Teachers who stay in the loop with their students.
Faculty involvement here goes beyond lectures — teachers guide and mentor students through academics, research and campus life, and the core faculty is enhanced by visiting experts from both academic and corporate backgrounds.
Below: the department's Chairperson, the culture behind the classroom, and a link straight through to every CSE faculty profile.
Department Leadership
Meet the Chairperson
Dr. Shylaja S S
With close to three decades of teaching experience and a Ph.D. in Face Recognition from Visvesvaraya Technological University, Dr. Shylaja S S leads the undergraduate CSE department while directing two of its research centers.
She has guided undergraduate and postgraduate projects across computer vision and applied machine learning, and continues to publish in national and international conference proceedings and journals.
Teaching is also about learning
In a relentlessly knowledge-driven field like computer science, the department's culture of continuous improvement runs both ways. Faculty are given regular opportunities to update their skills and stay current with new developments, and the core faculty is enhanced by visiting experts from academic and corporate life alike.
Involvement goes well past the timetable — faculty guide and mentor students through academic, research and extracurricular pursuits, building the kind of bond that keeps graduates calling their teachers for advice long after they've left campus.
- ✓ Regular upskilling & exposure to new developments
- ✓ Visiting experts from industry & academia
- ✓ Hands-on mentorship beyond the classroom
